The Canadian Rockies & Alaskan Cruise

(18 days, Victoria - Seattle, 2013)
The Canadian Rockies & Alaskan Cruise Tour
This 18 day tour explores the heart of the Rockies including an overnight train journey and 2 nights each in Victoria and Banff, followed by a 7 night Alaskan cruise.

This 20 day adventure begins in beautiful Victoria with an evening at the renowned Fairmont Empress Hotel. You will have the day to soak up the city sights, particularly the highlight of the city, the world famous Butchart Gardens. Crossing to the mainland by ferry, you will stop at the stunning Shannon Falls along the Howe Sound en route to Whistler, where you will step into the world of the black bears.

From Whistler, you will depart for Hat Creek Ranch to learn about local Shuswap Nation culture and then head to the resort of Sun Peaks. Next stop is two nights in the alpine town of Banff where you will take the Banff Gondola to the summit of Sulphur Mountain, before witnessing two of Canada’s most famous lakes, Emerald Lake and Lake Louise.

Travelling along the Icefields Parkway you will stop to enjoy a ride on the Ice Explorer onto Athabasca Glacier, before arriving in Jasper and enjoying a nature walk through the Maligne Canyon. From Jasper you will board the VIA Rail train ‘The Canadian’ for your overnight journey to Vancouver, offering the best vantage point for absorbing the stunning scenery of both Mount Robson and the Jasper National Park.

No tour to Canada is complete without a cruise to Alaska’s breathtaking glacial fjords, so you will enjoy a seven night, 1,600 kilometre voyage to Alaska, stopping in at numerous ports along the way including Ketchikan, Sitka, and the isolated Alaskan capital, Juneau, and viewing incredible Tracy Arm.  Finally you will head back south to Victoria, before disembarking in Seattle for your onward journey.
